UT Student Chapter Mentor Volunteer

The Post is seeking a volunteer to fill the Post's University of Texas at Austin (UT) Student Chapter Mentor position. The UT Student Chapter Mentor is an appointed Post Board of Direction position. The Mentor will be appointed for this year and is eligible for re-appointment in subsequent years.

Volunteers for this position must be SAME San Antonio Post members in good standing as shown on the latest membership rosters at the Post website at www.same.org/satx. While serving in this position the individual must maintain their SAME and Post membership in good standing.

The Chapter Mentor serves as a liaison between the Chapter's Faculty Advisor, students and our Post. Support to the Student Chapter includes (but is not limited to) assistance in financial planning, operations and programs, events, and recognition and providing guidance to the Chapter students during their school-to-workforce transition.

RESPONSIBLITIES

The Student Chapter Mentor:

• Makes sure the Chapter operates in support of the SAME mission, vision and values

• Keeps the Chapter Faculty Advisor and its members informed of Post, Regional and National events

• Assists with organizing Student Chapter events

• Promotes Chapter networking, inter-club collaboration, and professional development available through other academic and professional organizations

• Helps the Student Chapter organize and participate in engineering competitions such as the pending SAME Student Chapter Engineering Challenge

• Keeps the SAME National Office informed of Student Chapter points of contact changes and makes sure the Chapter submits the Student Chapter Status Report on Dec and May 1st

• Should help in conjunction with the Chapter Faculty Advisor devise a system to recognize Chapter member achievement

• Works with the Chapter Faculty Advisor to help the Chapter acheive the elements of SAME's Distinguished Student Chapter Streamer each year

• Assists Chapter members in their transition into the workforce
